Well, the good news is that I haven't been denied entrance to any other important places this week. So far, among other locations, I have still been welcome at my place of work, at Starbucks, and at Trader Joe's. The latter is especially important because, as a blogger who strives to be healthy, I much prefer organic Cheetos.Because it has been a particularly elephant-y week, and because my RSS feed is filled with articles referencing the Elephant Room 2, I'm left with little choice but to make this an official Pachyderm edition of This 'n' That. Of course, at the end of the day, there are still going to be three categories of people:
- Those who, ahem, *lovingly* refer to critics as "Haters" and who celebrate unity and emotional expressions of love at the expense of the truth and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Those who grieve over the lack of biblical discernment in the visible church today and who acknowledge the importance of speaking out against it, while standing firmly upon the Word of God.
- Those who have never even heard of T.D. Jakes, James MacDonald, or Mark Driscoll and who know nothing of church-dwelling elephants, or those who have, but are completely uninterested in the entire debacle (and who can blame them).
With that, please enjoy this compilation of pachyderm-esque articles as you ponder your week in review (kind of):
- Did T.D. Jakes really affirm the Trinity as defined by biblical Christianity? Here's the transcript, you decide.
- My friend Daniel Neades has written another marvelous article: Elephant Room 2: May We Now Regard T.D. Jakes as Trinitarian and Orthodox?
- Carl Trueman offers his two cents which, let's face it, are worth far more than a mere two cents!
- "Manifestations" and "persons" are pretty much the same thing. You know, as long as "you make sure your footnotes are properly added."
- James White addressed T.D. Jakes and Modalism on Twitter yesterday. Apprising Ministries has a good recap of this Twitter commentary.
- Speaking of James White, he also spent today's episode of the Dividing Line discussing this issue. It's well worth a listen.
- I don't know how he did it, but Ken Silva obtained exclusive video footage of the pre-Elephant Room dinner.
- Chris Rosebrough discusses ER2 with Brannon Howse of Worldview Weekend.
- Getting straight to the point: Jakes "masterfully deconstruct[ed] the entire practice of theology." And the respected, popular pastors in charge let him get away with it.
- A humorous article from last October reminds us of the true attitude behind these shenanigans.
- Trinity vs. Oneness:

A mure appropriate name for the next " Elephant Room" would be
" Dances with Wolves 3 ".
So, TD Jakes conveniently changes the word "persons" to "manifestations" and the whole Evangelical world says "Hey, look at that, he's one of us!"
What is wrong with people! He didn't affirm the Trinity, he affirmed modalism. Big sigh....
Anyways, I'm glad you trip to Trader Jo's went better than ER2 did.
Standing ready to bake you a cake with a file inside if needed.
Thanks for the reporting. It will be interesting to see where all this goes.
Also: Love the "Dances with Wolves 3" comment from Anonymous above.
Good and solid biblical substance from Dr.White. Driscoll and his lay up "questions" was nothing else but a lame set up for making heretic Jakes as a bona fide leavenjellycal. How sad... How shallow. How lame, weak and manipulative. Driscoll should be ashamed of himself and the elders of his church should really take him on the carpet but they will not because the "pope" of leavenjellycalism MacDonald dines with him... Ridiculous egomaniacs running loose without control of any elders.
Dunce's with wolves?
I'd have to disagree. I don't think you were denied entrance to anything "important".
As far as videos, I won't even click on anything that has Driscoll. I don't want to be embarrassed by what comes out of his mouth.
I was at TJ's today and am enjoying their Fat Free Spicy Black Bean dip and Veggie root chips. =) I know, that's not the main topic, but I thought I'd chime in on TJ's. =)
